California Dems decry 'bullying,' death threats from the left after shelving health bill

California Democratic lawmakers are facing a brutal backlash from union activists and others on the left after shelving a universal health care bill – a debate that has grown so intense that lawmakers say they’ve faced death threats and other violent rhetoric.

Assembly Democrats publicly decried the “bullying tactics” in a written statement over the weekend, maintaining that lawmakers are committed to improving health care but need to have an “open discourse.”

“In recent days, we have become alarmed and disheartened by bullying tactics, threats of violence, and death threats by a few who disagree with the decision of Speaker Anthony Rendon to postpone the advancement of SB 562,” they said, referring to the scrapped single-payer health care bill. “While it is appropriate for persons of varying views to express concern, disapproval or disfavor about the delay, it is never acceptable to engage in those tactics.”

Rendon announced on June 23 that he was shelving legislation to set up a government-run, single-payer health care system in the state. This prompted an immediate backlash from the California Nurses Association, which had backed the $400 billion plan.

On social media, the union circulated the image of a California bear with a knife stuck in its back. On the blade was Rendon’s name. The protests and rhetoric escalated from there.

One tweet that gained attention in local media said, “I pray someone checks his schedule for baseball practice” – an apparent reference to the Rep. Steve Scalise shooting outside Washington last month.

Rendon also confirmed that he’s faced death threats over the decision to halt consideration of the bill.

So now the Democratic base in the Golden State is out to eat their own.

The first thing that comes to mind is the question of just how fucking stupid do you have to be in this day and age to send someone a death threat over the internet?

That looks about right.

There are only a couple of other things that come to mind that I would like to point out here.

One is that you people should not be surprised at this reaction when you have been egging these crazy fuckers on for this same behavior in the past when it was more politically expedient for you and two is that your fucking state is fucking broke because of your past actions appeasing this same base of cretins.

So now you have a very large, broke state full of illegal immigrants and left wing whack jobs who are all pissed off because the Free Shit they have been promised isn't showing up fresh and steaming hot like they were expecting.

I am reminded of this.

At an inflection point,” Obama said, telling a Jakarta crowd stories of how much the capital had improved since he lived there as a child.But he said that increased prosperity had been accompanied by new global problems, adding that as the world confronts issues ranging from inequality to terrorism, some countries – both developed and less developed – had adopted a more aggressive and isolationist stance.“If we don’t stand up for tolerance and moderation and respect for others, if we begin to doubt ourselves and all that we have accomplished, then much of the progress that we have made will not continue,” he said.

Trump tweeted on Saturday that his use of social media “is not Presidential—it’s MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL. Make America Great Again!”

He also tweeted that “the FAKE & FRAUDLENT NEWS MEDIA is working hard to convince Republicans and others I should not use social media—but remember, I won….the 2016 election with interviews, speeches and social media. I had to beat #FakeNews, and did. We will continue to WIN!”

Apparently that was enough for some very serious finger wagging to be deployed as a counter to his exuberance.

I can't wait to see what's next, maybe some useless fucks writing a very stern letter to the editor or something...

The fact that the guy is fucking relentless is the part I like.
